The superbly gifted violinist Rachel Barton Pine, the first American (and the youngest-ever artist) to win the Gold Medal at the J. S. Bach International Violin Competition, displays her fabulous artistry and her remarkable versatility with this extraordinary program of Baroque-period pearls. She performs concertos for violin and for its rarely heard, softer-voiced relative, the viola d’amore (viola ‘of love’). The Orchestra plays other appealing selections from the same period, music that delightfully depicts everything from dancers to battles.
